Officer Leo Silvera while on routine patrol in the Essex Street area conducted a motor vehicle stop for marked lane violations. As Officer Silvera was speaking with the operator of the vehicle, both he and Officer Alex Ovalles recognized a passenger in the vehicle as Jordy Javier age 19 of Lawrence who is a verified gang member who had an active warrant for his arrest.

Javier was asked to exit the vehicle, and was taken in custody without incident. As Officer Silvera was conducting a search incident to the arrest, he felt an object consistent with a firearm in Javier's coat pocket. Officer Silvera removed a loaded black and grey loaded firearm from the coat. Javier was arraigned in Lawrence District Court on several firearms related charges.
