LAWRENCE
Last evening just after 9:00 PM, Lawrence Police responded to a High Street address for a report of shots fired. Shortly thereafter, a 16 year old female arrived by car at Lawrence General Hospital with a gun shot wound. Based on information obtained from witnesses, it was determined that there was a large group fighting in the street. The victim was a passenger in a Black BMW which drove to the High St address with several individuals that were involved in the fight. One of occupants of the BMW exited the vehicle and shot several rounds in the air. The BMW was the same vehicle that drove the victim to hospital.
As the BMW was leaving the scene, an individual exited a High Street address and shot several rounds into the car, one of which struck the victim. Officers were able locate a firearm that was thrown from the BMW in route to the hospital. At the hospital, detectives identified Christian Figueroa age 20, who was the driver of the BMW, as an individual who had an active warrant for his arrest for an unrelated shooting. Figueroa was taken into custody on the arrest warrant which was for several firearms related charges. The 16 year old female was treated at Lawrence General Hospital and subsequently transferred to a Boston hospital where she remains at this hour. The investigation is being conducted by Lawrence Police and the Essex State Police Unit assigned to Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s Office. It remains very active at this time, and a speedy resolution is expected. There is no further information available at this time.
