Alexis

Lawrence High School senior Alexis Martinez, son of Carla Rivera and Alexis Martinez of Lawrence, has received an appointment to the Class of 2023 at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Martinez is scheduled to graduate from Lawrence High School on May 31, 2019, where he served as Battalion commander of the Junior ROTC program and rose to the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel. Martinez also participated in track and field and student council. He has a 4.1 GPA while taking Advanced Placement English, and has studied Calculus, Economics, and Public Speaking at Northern Essex Community College through the LHS Dual Enrollment program. “I want to be challenged in all aspects of my life, and I know that West Point is the best place to do so. I’ve always wanted to serve as an officer, and this is the best route to that goal” said Martinez. He cites JROTC instructor Sergeant First Class Jose Carballo as a positive influence in his life. “He has always been the one to guide me” said Martinez, “he always had faith in me.”
