[ARCHIVED] Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign Mayor, LPD to Hold Press Conference

Mayor Daniel Rivera, with Police Chief Roy Vasque, Delamano Inc, and YWCA NEMA will hold a press conference next week to announce a citywide domestic violence campaign. For the months of September, October and November the Police & Community Relations unit within the Lawrence Police Department, in collaboration with the office of Mayor Dan Rivera, Delamano Inc. and the YWCA NEMA hosted a series of workshops and community educational panel.  In addition, we will be distributing and displaying informational pamphlets to social service establishments, local businesses and faith based institutions.

The goal for this campaign is to provide information to victims and bystanders about available services in our community, to educate, and encourage people to get involved in domestic violence prevention efforts. The campaign will serve as a reminder of our collective responsibility, bystanders included, to play a part and join local efforts to end this social ill.
