[ARCHIVED] Museum Square Garage to Re-Open 8pm 6/14

Mayor Dan Rivera announces today that after the City’s contracted engineers finished their walkthrough of the Museum Square Garage temporary shoring system and did not note any problems with the systems as installed and that the repairs have been completed as specified; the Museum Square Garage will re-open at 8pm Friday, June 14, 2019.

These repairs performed at the parking garage are only temporary in nature, particularly the shoring system. Should the $4 Million before the City Council fail to be allocated so as to make permanent repairs at the parking garage, the City will evaluate all options available including but not limited to closing the garage permanently. The Council is expected to take the matter back up on Tuesday June 18, 2019 at 7pm City Hall Council Chambers.

The City will have contractors on hand working in the north west stair well fixing other issues. The contractors will be onsite starting Saturday June 15, 2019 in the morning to perform repairs. Access to that stairwell will be restricted to the Contractor only in order to be able to perform the repairs more quickly. Fire Department has been notified and they will have a Fire Detail onsite during the repairs. The City’s contracted engineers will do spot checks on the repairs over the weekend. It is anticipated that these stairwell repairs should be completed by Monday.
