As previously reported, at approximately 5:00 p.m. on February 15th, members of the Lawrence Police Patrol Division responded to report of shots fired in area of Currier Street. As Officers were investigating the incident, it was learned that a male drove himself to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with apparent gunshot wounds. Early on in the investigation it was determined that this was not a random act of violence.
Following a lengthy investigation conducted by the Lawrence Police Patrol Division and Lawrence Police Detectives Division, and Detectives from Massachusetts State Police assigned to District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s Office, as well as the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Section, and Lawrence Police Gang Unit two individuals were taken into custody.
Abraham Estrada, age 18, of Lawrence, MA was charged with Attempted Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault to Rob while Armed, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License and Discharging a Firearm within 500’ of a Building. He was arraigned in Lawrence District Court. Additionally, a 15 year old juvenile male from Lawrence was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault to Rob while Armed, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License and Discharging a Firearm within 500’ of a Building. He will be arraigned in Essex County Juvenile Court in Lawrence, MA.
