School Staff & Childcare Provider Week

Mayor Vasquez Announced School Staff and Child Care Worker Vaccination Week. This week those who work in the k-12 school system or childcare are able to reserve their vaccination appointments. The week begins March 15, 2021 and school staff/ childcare workers may reserve appointments from 3-5pm Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 8am-4pm. These slots will be exclusively reserved for those who work in the k-12 system including, but not limited to teachers, janitors, bus drivers, lunch staff, and so on. In addition, those who work in childcare may also reserve during this exclusive week.

At the press conference Mayor Vasquez says “I encourage you to sign up this is for you, the safety of our teachers and all school workers is critical for our children to also be safe” City Councilor and President of the Child Care Union Celina Reyes says “I encourage all child care workers to join us in taking the vaccine.” School Committee member Joshua Alba says “vaccination is a major step and not the only step to getting the city fully running again it is a major step in getting our students back into school full time in person, wear your mask, keep your distance, get in line for your vaccine shot. As we all know Lawrence has been more impacted than other surrounding communities due to generations of inequity that the city of Lawrence continues to persist through.”

The city of Lawrence is working towards equity and in order to get our children back in school vaccinating those who are taking care of the city’s children is a priority. School staff and childcare workers may be able to reserve through cityoflawrence.com/vaclawrence or they may call the vaccination call center at 978-620-3330.
