Lawrence Mayor Brian A. DePeña and Lawrence Fire Chief Moriarty would like to report the following: 

As of 9:00 am this morning there are approximately 33 thousand people impacted by the recent storms in the Merrimack Valley.  

There are a lot of trees and electrical wires down, including two large main electrical wires located in South Lawrence by the railroad tracks. 

National Grid has 80 extra crews from other electric sources helping with the restoration of power.  It is estimated that 95% of the power will be restored by noon time tomorrow, Sunday, September 10. 

The fire department would like to advise and remind residents not to touch or drive over any downed wires, and not to run generators from inside the homes because of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. Generators should be placed outside the homes at least 5 feet away from any flue. If there is any smell of gas, please call 911 immediately.  

The Red Cross has opened a regional shelter at the new North Andover Senior Center located at 481 Sutton St. across from the Lawrence airport. This shelter will have charging stations and Food.

El alcalde de Lawrence, Brian De Peña, y el jefe de bomberos de Lawrence, Moriarty, desean informar lo siguiente: 

Desde las 9:00 de esta mañana hay aproximadamente 33 mil personas afectadas por las recientes tormentas en el Valle de Merrimack. 

Hay muchos árboles y cables eléctricos caídos, incluyendo dos grandes cables eléctricos principales ubicados en el sur de Lawrence junto a las vías del tren. 

National Grid cuenta con 80 equipos adicionales de otras fuentes eléctricas que están ayudando con el restablecimiento de la energía eléctrica. Se estima que el 95% de la energía será restablecida al mediodía de mañana domingo, 10 de septiembre. 

El departamento de bomberos aconseja y recuerda a los residentes que no toquen ni pasen por encima de ningún cable eléctrico caído, y que no enciendan generadores desde el interior de las casas debido al peligro de intoxicación por monóxido de carbono. Los generadores deben colocarse fuera de las casas al menos a 5 pies de distancia de cualquier combustible. Si huele a gas, llame al 911 de inmediato. 

La Cruz Roja ha abierto un refugio regional en el nuevo centro para personas mayors, está localizado en North Andover ubicado en el 481 Sutton St. frente al aeropuerto de Lawrence.
