Social Determinants of Health and Health Equity

According to the World Health Organization, Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), “are the circumstances in which people are born, grow up, live, work and age, and the systems put in place to deal with illness.” These different factors can create “health inequities” between different groups, such as age, gender, race, sexual orientation, class and ability. The MHTF incorporates the SDOH as they work towards their vision of “A healthy, safe, and thriving community for all.”
